Election - New Councillors needed

Our election for councillors will take place on 9th April. To see the Notice of Election and Nomination form click on "Current Business".

Nomination forms will also be available at the newsagents on Perth Bridge or from the returning officer, Mr George Beaton, Greenbank, Muirhall Road and have to be returned by 26th March.

There are ten places available and each of the present councillors has to reapply. In the event that ten or less candidates are nominated, no election will be held.  In the event that less than five nominations are received, then the Returning Officer will extend the period for receipt of nominations by ten days to 6th April 2009.  In the event of more than ten candidates being nominated, then on 2nd April the Returning Officer will post a notice showing date, polling place, opening times for voting and a list of candidates' names and addresses.

As vacancies already exist it is unlikely that any voting will be required. If you come forward you will be welcomed with open arms. As we deal with the everyday issues that matter to our community you will probably find it all much more interesting than you ever imagined.
