Tree Felling Proposed in Bell Park

Steven Kane, PKC's Landscape Architect has told us that the following work is to be carried out to the Bell Park at the junction of Isla Road and Strathmore Street.

  • Remove a selection of 6 trees along the park boundary on Strathmore Street. This will enhance and give more room to the existing trees with more light entering into the space.
  • On Isla road 4 existing red ornamental plums are being considered for removal and replacement. Currently one stump from a past fallen tree exists and one of the remaining 4 trees has deteriorated to a point that it will be removed. Our tree officer has advised the remaining trees are coming to the end of their life and beginning to show signs of deterioration. It is proposed in the future to remove the remaining 3 trees and replace the whole row (7) with similar species set back further back from the wall.
  •  Various shrub beds to be pruned hard and bulked up with more plants
